The Plamp II is a versatile, modular photographic tool that clamps onto your tripod while the opposing clamp holds the other object. Move desirable background or foreground elements into the picture or hold a small shade to block light from hitting your lens and causing flare.
The Plamp II: A stable set of hand on-set
The Plamp II from Wimberley is a 58 cm articulating Loc-Line arm designed to help photographers position objects and tools in a macro shoot.
The Plamp II has a load capacity of about 220 g, depending on the positioning of the arm, and will easily clamp to tripod legs or similar objects 2 to 3.5 cm in diameter. This holds it securely while the thumbscrew clip holds the object. The nylon clip is extremely versatile and has foam jaw inserts for holding delicate materials and objects like flowers. A holding notch fits the outer rim of diffusers and reflectors and an arched recess allows for the gripping of round objects. The thumbscrew activated clip is very strong and precise and opens to 2.2 cm. The Plamp II is extremely portable and weighs only about 200 g.
Uses for the Plamp II

It's a crafty little clamp.... allows you to hold things (like flowers) very gently or for holding a reflector when doing shots in the field. Like all things from Wimberly, they are well made. I think I need another.

I have wanted a Plamp since reading about them in foreign magazines. I was pleased to see them available locally. I was a little surprised at just how chunky the Plamp is (always imagining them as thin and spindly). However, the product is clearly top quality and the jaws that clamp the subject matter are manually adjustable to a fine degree to ensure no damage is caused by clamping. Now that I have one I think I need another.
